Interview with a Mentor

Where are you from?

Walters, Oklahoma (small town in Southwestern Oklahoma).

What is your favorite place to eat on campus?

I frequent Baja quite a bit but Red-Earth Kitchen has my heart. 

Favorite class taken at OSU?

Architecture studio classes. 

Favorite Intramural sport to play?

I find running to be a good break. 

Favorite place that you've traveled?

New York City. Loved the urban lifestyle and observing the contrast to Oklahoma. 

Favorite movie?

Anything with a good plot twist or a good documentary.

First/ best OSU memory?

PLC retreat was my first experience. Many of my good friends were found here.

Best piece of advice?

Sit down and take time to reflect on your life; who you are and who you want to be.

How did you get involved in ResLife?

I was looking for a good place to grow my leadership skills; so the Academic Mentor was a natural fit.

Robert Gates, Former US Secretary of Defense

Did you know?

  • Robert Gates was the President of Texas A&M University for 4 years.
  • Gates was the 15th director of the CIA (nominated by George H.W. Bush).
  • Robert Gates is an Eagle Scout and served in the United States Air Force.
  • He currently serves as the 24th Chancellor of The College of William & Mary (preceded by Sandra Day O'Connor)
  • Gates was nominated for the position of Secretary of Defense by George Bush, and served for 4.5 years.
  • Robert Gates was an early supporter of repealing the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy" within the armed forces.

Call us maybe? Midterm Edition

Midterms are right around the corner! Some of you may have already begun to take your midterms. Keep in mind that both the LASSO and Academic Development Center are here to help you out! It can be a struggle tobalance school, RLC programs, work, and regular life- don't forget to stop and take a deep breath sometimes! Also, the power of a nap is underrated! Remember: You must attend 7 out of 10 RLC programs, so ifyou need to spend a night studying, that is perfectly acceptable. Keep up your awesome work, and continue to make a difference in your communities! And as always, if you need anything, your LMs are here for you!
